Situated in the Courtyard opposite the Sculpture Park, a two minutes’ walk from the Vyrnwy Dam, The Old Barn Cafe provide a friendly, warm welcome, combined with a wide variety of home-cooked meals, cakes, afternoon teas, puddings and preserves. Our produces are locally sourced, sometimes even from our own garden !

As you relax on the terrace, sampling our lovely home cooked food, you can also browse from afar into our neighbour’s various shops, do a little bird watching or just simply enjoy the splendid view of the Vyrnwy Dam, as well as the peace and quiet of the Welsh countryside.
           

You could even use our cycle hire facility for a lovely ride around the lake.

EMILY's TEA ROOM

Emily’s high quality Farmhouse Tea Room is located in a typical Welsh farmhouse set in a picturesque position overlooking the rolling Montgomeryshire countryside. You are guaranteed a warm Welsh welcome.
   

The Tea Room is only a few yards from the B4393.  Emily's is the ideal place to stop on the way to or from Lake Vyrnwy.  

You can enjoy morning coffee or a leisurely afternoon tea with delicious home made cake.

Our Head Chef David Thompson has gathered a vibrant & talented brigade together to produce food for our rosette awarded restaurant. The Cain Valley Hotel offers not only competitively priced accommodation but also good food freshly prepared throughout the day and served in either the restaurant or one of the two bars. The restaurant 3 course dinners include garlic mushroom and chicken liver pate starters. Delicious lamb casserole or local steak cooked to your taste followed by sticky toffee pudding or chocolate, amaretti and hazelnut parfait to finish. Traditional bar meals like scampi, gammon, steak and ale pie or home made curries are available also home made soup, sandwiches and baguettes.

We also cater for large parties and do buffets for christenings or family gatherings.

Dafarn Newydd Shop and Petrol Station is situated in the village of Llanwddyn approximately 1 mile from the Dam at Lake Vyrnwy.

The shop is run by Andrew and Colleen Johnson and offers a friendly service to local residents, day trippers and holidaymakers alike, selling a wide range of goods general groceries, fresh fruit and vegetables, bread and cakes, frozen food, off-licence sales, newspapers and magazines, diesel and petrol. The shop is also a licensed National Lottery Outlet.

Welcome packs
If you are planning a holiday or short stay in one of the many caravan parks or self-catering cottages around the area then why not contact the shop and arrange for a welcome pack to be ready for collection on your arrival. Fresh Meat
